Different kinds of issues with the Hard Drive require a different type of solution for each problem.  To effectively fix your Hard Drive problem, it is important to effectively identify the nature of the problem and then determine the solution.  Local PC Repair advises you to always back up your data even if you are even a little suspicious about your hard drive having issues in the future, as it is wise to be prepared and have your entire data stored safely externally rather than trying to fix corrupted data and recover lost files. Local PC Repair here mentions the top six common hard drive problems related to hard drives along with the solution to assist you in fixing them.

    Hard Drive Not Found

If you are getting a “Hard Drive Not Found” error on your screen, as soon as you turn on the device, it is time to look forward to the issue. This makes your system hang for a while, thus no response on most of the commands. The probable reasons behind such errors are damaged or loose internal cable, water or physical damage, or lost or corrupted logical partition.

Solution A:   Check for physical damage

Although it may be time-consuming, you can check the connections of your laptop’s hard drive or computer’s hard drive by opening the system. It is best to take professional assistance in case of a loose connection or any other major physical damage as a well-trained licensed professional will be providing you with the best possible solution in minimum time.

    Solution B:  Hard Reset

The simplest way to deal with the malfunctioning of the hard drive is to perform a hard reset. Steps:

    • Turn off your laptop or PC.
    • Remove the battery or power cord.
    • Disconnect all the peripheral devices from the device
    • Now, press the Power button for 15 seconds.
    • After some time, connect the battery/power cord and turn your device on. (Avoid connecting peripheral devices)

    Volume is Dirty

The mentioned error depicts that the volume of the disk or the entire disk has been corrupted. Such errors are marked with the presence of a hexadecimal code. The issue can occur with both, internal and external hard drives, and the primary reason can be an unexpected shutdown or a bad sector on your hard drive. Unsupportive file systems or drivers can also result in this when using an external drive.  It is advisable not to mess with your system in such cases, and seek professional help to deal with such errors.

    Reconnect the External Device

Many users encounter this error while using an external hard drive, SD Card, or USB device. In such cake, it is recommended to:

    1. Remove the eternal device
    2. Turn off your laptop/PC.
    • Wait for a few minutes
    1. Turn on/ Restart your device
    • Reconnect the drive and check if the errors sustain.

    Unable to Boot the System

A failure of the internal hard drive can also result in the inability to boot your system as the internal hard drive also stores the firmware and the operating system. This leads you to a situation when you are unable to boot your system thus resulting in the malfunctioning of your device.  A loss of essential files of the system or a change in the BIOS settings can result in such issues. Also, If the partition where the operating systems are installed gets corrupted, then the same issue arises.

It is recommended to look for a licensed professional’s assistance if such an error has been shown by your device, as a wrong command might lead to the loss of important data and files from your device.

Data Loss from a Corrupt Hard Drive

A large amount of data is stored by the hard drives, which are accessible at all times, but a hard drive failure or corruption of the hard drive can lead to data loss. The probable causes for the loss of data include faulty programs, corrupt storage, bad sectors, malware attacks, disk-related issues, or accidental formatting or deletion of data. Although there is no native solution for the recovery of data, you can try using a dedicated third-party data recovery tool or can look for a professional help to get your data recovered.

    Look for System Errors

In case your disk is malfunctioning, you can perform an automatic system check. The steps have been mentioned below:

    1. Right-click on the disk’s icon.
    • Click on Properties
    • Under the tool tab go to error checking section.
    • Click on the check button.
    • Follow the instructions, if reflected on the screen to resolve the system error efficiently.

    Restore Default BIOS Setting

In case of any issue with the BIOS settings f your device, it can be fixed by turning on your laptop or PC and pressing the BIOS key. After pressing the BIOS key, restore the default settings. Now exit the current window and try restarting your device.

    Perform – Advance Setup

    • A bootable media or a Windows installer can be used to start your PC or Laptop. The steps to perform an advanced setup:
    • Go to Settings
    • Go to Recovery Settings
    • Click on Advance Setup and click on the “Restart Now” button.
    • Connect on bootable media to your system, to boot your device from another media.
